More MLIA

Today in class, my phone rang. Being that I am a courteous person, I quickly turned it off. From the back of the class I hear “Aw is it your mommy?”. Without missing a beat I retrieved my phone from my pocket, looked at it and said “Nope.. Yours”. My teacher laughed and let me keep my phone. MLIA

Today, I arrived home to find my sister screaming at our dog. Apparently, the dog had completely destroyed her ‘Twilight’ book. The dogs name is Buffy. I laughed at the irony. MLIA

Today, I was opening birthday presents when I gave myself a paper cut. I ignored it and kept opening presents. The next one I opened was a box of Transformers band-aids from my brother. Either my brother is psychic, or fate led my injured finger to the protection of Optimus Prime. MLIA

Stupid Toad.

*facepalm*
Really.
Really.
One should really expect more out of university professors. I was very NOT impressed with one of my profs today. This morning, he couldn’t figure it out why the projector wasn’t working with his computer. Meanwhile, I’m sitting there wondering if he remembered to plug in the feed to his laptop; I didn’t say anything. It would sound really bad if I did and he had, so I just kept my mouth shut. But… that’s exactly what it was. He’d already turned off the projector and laptop again and was moving his laptop before he realized what he’d forgotten. Honestly.
And I’m paying for this.
Okay, so it’s a little thing, but… it’s honestly just one of many. And I’m really starting to have to bite my tongue though. Like a certain topic that came up today. “Oh yeah, but nobody believes that, because that would be just silly and it’s obviously not that.” Uh, yeah, sorry, but some people DO believe that, and have very good reasons for doing so. “They” don’t know everything. It’s so irritating. /endrant

Just not as cool

*sigh* For Philosophy of Psychology we have to read an article called “Minds, brains, and programs.” It’ll be about whether computers can think and so on. It would be so much cooler if it were about people, zombies, and robots. ‘Cause you could totally still use the same title.
Oh well, it still beats reading Locke.

HolyWeirdDreamsLastNight

CRAZY DREAMS.
So yeah. Last night, I got to be a gladiator and own a bunch of people in an arena. Repeatedly. I did so with my twin brother – we were princes (yes, for some reason I was a guy in this dream). After we’d killed or disabled everyone else in the arena (and there was this one really crazy banshee-lady), we were supposed to fight each other. Instead we played rock-paper-scissors. I lost, and we stages him punching me in the head to knock me out.
It was really weird how vivid the dream was. I had really cool swords with long, slender blades. Seriously, it was awesome.
I also remember a cookie offer making a guest appearance. I think the banshee lady offered me some to try to distract me so she could win. I don’t remember exactly. Mostly my dream was pretty consistent though.

Before that dream though, I had another, completely unrelated dream where we (me, as a girl this time, Brianna, Sarika, and some other friends) were playing this crazy version of spaceship lazer-tag. It was epic. We had to shoot glowing jellyfish aliens in this rollercoaster tube. I wish this version of lazer-tag really did exist.

I had some other snippets of dreams too, but I don’t really remember them. The gladiator one was definitely the best though. Seriously, I felt so bad-ass.

Autumn Equinox

Equinox – balance;
Day and night match.
Temperatures cool
As colors warm
From cool greens and clear blues
To the splashes of fire:
The red, orange and yellow
Of fluttering leaves.

Harsh heat of day traded
For refreshing breezes
And flesh-chilling nights.
Curl in a blanket
Beside a night fire
Cuddle with a loved one
Hold tight those most dear.

Marchings songs honked
By high skeins of geese
Abrasive like troops
Of cantankerous old men
Notes staggered inharmonious
Like calls of broken trumpets.

Plump turkeys cook
In the time we give thanks;
Orange squashes grimace
As children shriek with fear and cheer;
Students reunite with nigh-forgotten friends;
Autumn has come.

(This poem was somewhat inspired by the last – I actually kinda like autumn, as I prefer the shoulder seasons over the heat of summer and cold of winter – and I wanted to highlight the good things about autumn.
Also, much thanks to Chad – I haven’t written poetry in forever, but I think you’re inspiring me to do so (by having some on your own blog). ^_^)

Dismember-Me Plush Zombie

I think I might know some people who would be interested in these.

Autumn’s here!

“Fall is here!
No more cheer!
Soon it will snow
And chill winds blow
Alas, alack and woe are we!”
Cry the masses I hear and see.

Their bearings irk
And I can’t help but smirk
What drama in the full of day
I cannot help but pause to say,
“It’s only Autumn Equinox
It’s not like Winter quickly knocks
On tomorrow’s door
We still have a whole season more
To go outside without our coats
Thick winter wool or boots like boats.
The sun still shines
Despite your whines;
We can yet see
The ground snow-free;
The leaves may turn from greens to reds
And cover all the flowerbeds
But it has a beauty of its own
Just look and to you it will be shown.”

But man does love to mope and moan
To sob and sigh and whine and groan
And grieve for that which he has yet
Forsaking joy he might have met
In favor of beleaguered sighs
And making lows of all his highs.

But not for me this dreary song
I would rather joy prolong
And say, “What luck! The skies are blue
And here’s a day for me and you
To love and laugh and live as we will
And not borrow from tomorrow’s ill.”

(Yeah, so I was bored before school started, and the moaning on the radio about it being the first day of fall was irritating me. It’s kinda a sucky poem, but oh well. XD To sum it up: Shut up and enjoy life already.)

Today, I had to take a test in my AP Biology class. The second to last test question was “Make a barnyard animal noise. You have 10 seconds to comply.” I looked up, confused, and saw my teacher staring intently at me. He mouthed the word “Go” and tapped his watch. I mooed. The rest of the testing period was completely silent, except for the occasional clucking, neighing, and mooing. MLIA.

Today, I was in the bathroom at a popular coffee chain. Someone wrote “What would Jesus do?” on the wall. Another person wrote directly underneath that “Wash His hands.” And a third wrote “And your feet.” I smiled. MLIA

Today, my teacher was wearing a black tie with small, white skull and crossbones on it. One of my classmates raised her hand and complimented it. My teacher responded, “Thanks! It’s my favorite tie because it has the pirate sign and ninjas!” One of the girls next to me said, “I don’t see the ninjas.” My teacher replied, “Then they’re doing their job.” New favorite teacher. MLIA

Today I plugged my iPhone into my car speakers and started to use iGun. I turned up the volume, rolled down the windows and started shooting at a girl walking by me. She proceeded to act out the most dramatic death I’ve ever seen. We’re having coffee next weekend. MLIA.

Today, I turned on my laptop and went to connect to a wireless network. One of the options that showed up was a security-enabled network named “NARNIA”. I connected by typing in “wardrobe”. It made my week. MLIA.

Today my friend that lives in Australia wanted me to take pictures of my college campus so he could see what it was like. So instead of boring regular pictures, I had my friend put on a red and white striped shirt and hide in all the pictures. Best. Day. Ever. MLIA.

Today, at an amusement park, I witnessed a boy on a leash make an escape while his mom was distracted. Not only did the kid figure out how to get out of the leash, but he also hooked it onto another kid that was passing by. Way to go, little guy, way to go. MLIA

Today, I was waiting at a red light. Suddenly, I saw two kids dressed up as ghosts run down the street, followed by a guy in a ghostbusters uniform. I have never been more jealous in my life. MLIA

Today, I noticed my cat trying to climb into every cabinet or closet that was open. After later finding him sleeping on my copy of “The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe,” I am convinced he is trying to find Narnia and have agreed to help him with his quest. MLIA.

Today, I saw a child on a leash. I started thinking about how degrading that was, until the child started barking and growled at a passer-by. I hope one day I have a child like that. MLIA

Today I spent some time randomly typing web addresses I thought should be websites. When I typed www.ninjasecrets.com, a 403 error came up saying in big bold letters, “FORBIDDEN”. Good job ninjas. Good. Job. MLIA

Today I wore a shirt that has the “Hello my name is:” sticker filled in with “Ninja.” I saw a guy with the same shirt, but instead it said “Jedi.” Although I intended to have a staredown, he nodded at me; causing me to nod back. I think he just used the force on me. Well played, Jedi. This battle is not over. MLIA

Today, a friend and I had a discussion about dinosaurs and came to the conclusion that t-rexs were only angry and aggressive because their arms were too short to hug one another. MLIA.

Today, my friends and I were browsing through a dollar store and found stuffed animals that could record and playback sounds. We spent the next twenty minutes making them all, upon squeezed, shout “DON’T TOUCH ME.” I wonder if anyone will buy them. MLIA

Today, I changed my ringtone to the Jaws theme song and kept hiding my phone, so that I can feel like my phone is sneaking up on me everytime I get a text message. This will continue to entertain me for a very long time. MLIA

Today I was driving by the lake and I saw a Jeep full of guys pass me. They were hanging out the windows and the sunroof, paddling with canoe paddles, and singing “Just Around the Riverbend” from Pocahontas. It easily may have been the coolest thing I’ve seen, ever.
